Family History

For Memorial Day, we went to Handsome Husband’s parent’s house for a BBQ and family time. I brought my computer because Grandpa J and I have been working on a family history book for 3 years. We are finally getting close to publishing. The 400+ page book follows the posterity of Grandpa J’s grandparents and their 6 children and their 30 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren (Handsome Husband is one of those). ┬áIn the process of creating this book, we have come in contact with many relatives that Grandpa J hasn’t spoken with in years and even met some new ones. This is L. She is one of the great-grandchildren and she was visiting from out of state. She stopped by for our Memorial Day celebration and helped look over her father’s and her own section of the book. She and I spent a good deal of time together and really got to connect. It is wonderful how family history can bring people together and help us all feel connected. Even though I married into this family, I feel like I am part of it. In fact, I know more about Handsome Husband’s side of the family than he does because of putting this book together! It will be a real treasure.

I really enjoyed meeting you and spending a little bit of time together. And i absolutely LOVE what you did with the book. I have looked through it many times and can’t wait to show my parents when I travel back to Oregon again. The stories are incredible. I feel so much more a part of and not so isolated now. Great photos of us too!!ReplyCancel
