We, as in all the married kids, organized a big family celebration for Mom and Dad’s 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. Mom always makes lots of food, but we didn’t want her to have to worry about it, so we had a taco bar and didn’t give her any food assignments. We ate food and then showed a slideshow which had pictures from the beginning of their marriage until now. Then as an extra surprise we video taped everyone, individually, from adults to the smallest kids wishing them a Happy Anniversary and sharing favorite memories. We figured if it was pre-taped it, it would give everyone an opportunity to say something and it would keep it from going longer than it needed to be. After the video we had a talent show. Handsome Husband and I sang a little duet (Love is an Open Door). We don’t have amazing voices, but this was a fun song to sing together.
Sweetie and Handsome Husband played a piano duet (God Speed the Right) and Captain Adorable did a funny duck walk and worm crawl. Sadly, I didn’t get pictures of them. Baby Dragon didn’t want to do a talent. My nephew C wanted to play some digital music that he has created on his computer and his younger brother D danced to it.
L sang a beautiful duet with her daughter D.
I love how Captain Adorable and cousin S are making faces to keep themselves entertained during the talents.
C and his mom worked on getting the music ready.
And cousin J did a dance that she choreographed to the song Shiny from the movie Moana.
A showed a piece of artwork.
Cousin D was going to do some Beatbox Radio, but he melted to the floor and said he ran out of batteries!
C sang a lovely song which Sweetie and J danced to.
Cousin S played the song Waterfall.
Cousin J solved about 6 different Rubix cubes in 3 minutes.
S played a song on the piano.
MC and P played some bluegrass music on their instruments.
Some of the kids danced to the music.
S and H did a funny phone skit.
T showed off her beautiful artwork. She does My Little Pony fan fiction and creates quality comic pages.
Everyone was very impressed.
S showed his muscles off. This wasn’t part of the talent show, just a little extra.
We got to see A and K dance together. They are on a dance team.
M’s talent is giving hugs.
We were extra blessed to see a reprisal of an oldie. D and J acted out the skit The Bookshop from Monty Python.
It was hilarious, and they only had one rehearsal while we were on the cruise.
After a costume change we got to see A and K dance again.
I think this was a cha cha. It was very inspiring, I think Baby Dragon is interested in doing some ballroom dance now!
Then Mom and L did a duet of Canon in D.
And cousin A showed some her artwork.
Mom and Dad finished out the evening by singing the Hawaiian Wedding song which they sang at their wedding reception 50 years ago.
Then the grandkids presented Mom and Dad with roses.
L shared a poem that she wrote for Mom and Dad.
It was a lovely night.
